Twig Mobile Tutorial

I was so excited to do this little craft!  I've had the supplies for this project for a while now and just never found the time to complete it. The idea was sparked from a picture of thread wrapped branches that I found on Pinterest.  But they were using them as an organizational tool to sort the different thread colors.  They looked super neat but in my small apartment it just wouldn't be logical to have lots of branches taking up room on a table.  So instead, I decided to string them up an make a little hanging mobile! And our apartment still needs more wall decor so it was perfect!

You will need:
  • A handful of small twigs or branches
  • Several colors of thread
This project is super easy and super cheap! The branches are free from your yard and the thread is mega cheap at any craft store! You'll likely end up spending less than $3 or $4 on this adorable little wall mobile!

Start by making sure the twigs are roughly the same size.  A little variation is great but for balance purposes its best to keep them closer in size.  Next, wrap each twig in one of the thread colors you picked out. I never needed glue or anything because where you start wrapping, you can just double layer over the beginning of the thread to hold it tight and on the opposite end you just tie a little knot.

After their all wrapped, you use a separate color to connect them all. Arrange them in the order you'd like and start at the bottom.  Start with some decently long pieces of thread and make little knots around either end of the stick, around where the threading ends.  Repeat this as you go all the way up through all the branches.  Then with the remaining strands, decide how long you want the actual hanging portion to be and tie a know in the middle! Here's my finished product.. Enjoy!
